The Buckingham Dog Cage

buckingham-m-r.pngAll of our dog cages are made to measure.

We have the dimensions for every car. We will suggest sizes but if you have any specific requirements we will make your cage to your specification.

This Buckingham design is suitable for cars with angled tailgates. To give the cage as much room as possible we follow the shape of the tailgate. The doors are in two pieces rather than single door as in the Stratford. These doors can be made where the lower section is a drop down flap which give the dogs a small ramp. The idea originated over 30 years ago when there were large gaps between the bumper and the car body. The purpose was to make sure the dogs didn't get their paws trapped. Alternatively the doors can be split as a stable door. This allows the dog to be leashed before being released form the car.

We would normally use one inch mesh which we believe is safer than the two inch, but once again we'll make it as you want it. Key operated locks, rubber matting to the floor and front escape doors are all available as extras

  1. As shown in this Mercedes E Class, the dog cage is contoured to the angle of the tailgate giving extra space inside the cage that would otherwise be lost.
  2. Even in cars where the angle is not required the drop down flaps are a custom option as they can protect the bumpers and also provide a "step-up" for dogs into the cages - as this Ford Mondeo shows.
  3. The same reasoning can also be applied to tailgates, as this tailgate in black powder coating for a BMW 3 Series touring shows.
